Make Exercise a Habit for Good

Most of us have good intentions to fit in regular exercise, BUT it’s easy to feel unmotivated, too busy and/or tired and snooze button your way out of it.  We then tend to be hard on ourselves because weeks or months pass by and it’s REALLY difficult to get back on track again.  I assure you though… regular exercise does NOT have to be complicated or difficult.  Use my tips below to make fitness a regular part of your routine.

1.  Schedule It Each Sunday  – Add a 30-minute time block ONLY for exercise to your calendar a few times throughout the week just like a regular meeting or doctor’s appointment.  Treat this time as a non-negotiable.  Exercise for your health deserves the same respect as a work event, conference call or dental appointment, right?

2.  Be Creative – Exercise does NOT have to always involve an hour at the gym.  A lunchtime walk, time for body weight exercise (squats, lunges, etc.) and/or climbing flights of stairs all count too!  Afternoon or evening house cleaning AND gardening is great as well!

3.  Use the 10-Minute Rule – When you feel unmotivated, tired and extremely busy, commit to just 10 minutes of exercise.  A quick jog, stretching session or walk around the block is better than nothing at all.  If you still find yourself overwhelmed, keep your expectations low… you do not have to run a marathon here my dear to create a habit with exercise.  Any movement is GREAT for your body!
